Lincr for Twitter

By default, Twitter uses TinyURL to shorten links. You may prefer a different URL shortening service; I prefer Lincr, because I made it! :-) If you use the basic Twitter web, which I prefer because of it’s real-time-ness compared to the periodically polling client interfaces, this usually involves an extra step of manually shortening the long URL with your favorite service and then putting it into Twitter.

This script will automatically shorten any long links you paste into the Twitter update field without you having to do anything extra. Just write your tweet, paste the URL, and hit update. Lincr-ing will happen automatically.

Requires Firefox and GreaseMonkey. I haven’t tried it on other browsers or engines. I can’t wait till Chrome supports GM user scripts!
