Twitter Report-as-Spam

As with any popular (and some not so popular) media of communication, spam is becoming a huge problem on Twitter right now. Fortunately, there’s a way to deal with it - an official @spam bot on Twitter that takes in reports in the form of an @ reply or a direct message. This involves copying the spam Twitter username into the clipboard, going to Twitter.com or your client app and generating a message in the form of “@spam username” or “d spam username”.

This can be made easier.

My Twitter Report-as-Spam bookmarklet does exactly that!

Instructions: When you’re visiting a Twitter profile that you notice is a spam account, simply hit the “Twitter Report-as-Spam” bookmarklet in your toolbar. You will be taken to Twitter.com with a ready message reporting the profile to the Twitter spam bot. All you gotta then is click “Send”. For this to work, you must e logged in to Twitter.com.

This has been tested on Google Chrome 2.x and Firefox 3.x. I haven’t tried it on Safari 4 or Opera 10 yet and I can’t be less bothered about Internet Explorer. Safari 4 support has been confirmed by @me1000. Thanks!
